What to do in Fort Lauderdale with a few hours before your cruise

A realistic plan for the hours before boarding at Port Everglades: brunch on Las Olas, a beach walk or a Water Taxi ride, and how much buffer to leave.

If you have 2 hours

Stay close to the port. The SE 17th Street corridor has waterfront restaurants such as Boatyard, and 15th Street Fisheries sits on the water at Lauderdale Marina. Both are a few minutes from the terminals.

If you have 4 hours

Head to Las Olas Boulevard for brunch and a stroll, then drive to the east end of Las Olas to see the beach at Las Olas Oceanside Park. The Las Olas Garage at 200 E Las Olas Circle is open 24/7.

Leave the beach with time to spare. Traffic on A1A and 17th Street can back up on weekends and during events like the boat show.

If you have most of the day

Buy a Water Taxi all-day pass and ride the canals with live narration. Boats come about every 30–45 minutes, so build in waiting time.

What to do with your luggage

Ask your hotel first — many cruise hotels hold bags for guests. App-based luggage storage services also list partner shops around downtown and the beach.
